• A Dearth of Painted Ladies

Three years ago, at the end of May 2009, many parts of the UK witnessed an invasion of Painted Ladies that was a marvel to behold.  I’ve seen none in Cornwall so far this year, but there were flocks of them in a mountain gorge in central Peloponnese last month.  Flighty creatures, but they like nothing better than a good bask on the ground.
